Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer Technician to provide full life cycle technical support for all types of combatant craft, boats, watercraft, amphibious

vessels/vehicles, Patrol Coastal Class ships, specialty craft/vessels, life rafts, inflatable craft, unmanned vessels/vehicles, and associated craft and mission systems to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division’s Combatant Craft Division

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Mechanical Engineer Technician III performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.

This technician performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as:

Successful candidates will demonstrate

• • Seven (7) years of full-time professional experience as a Mechanical Engineer Technician with specific experience in the following: watercraft propulsion systems including propeller, shaft, and reduction gears; auxiliary equipment and systems including raw water, potable water, engine exhaust, fuel, lube oil, air conditioning/handling, compressed air, heating/cooling, hydraulic systems, all fluid systems, and support equipment.
  • Current Secret Clearance
    
    

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team under project deadlines.
• Experience supporting test and evaluation of maritime mechanical systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsibilities include mechanical systems engineering technician support in one or more of the following in support of watercraft engineering and marine services: watercraft propulsion systems including propeller, shaft, and reduction gears; auxiliary equipment and systems including raw water, potable water, engine exhaust, fuel, lube oil, air conditioning/handling, compressed air, heating/cooling, hydraulic systems, all fluid systems, and support equipment.
