Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Mid Level Weld Technician to assist the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division’s Naval Architecture and Engineering Department in achieving new or improved understanding in concepts and technology, fundamental and applied research of the marine environment, engineering and naval architecture, hydromechanics, maneuvering and control, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, and training.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Successful candidates will demonstrate

• At least three years experience as Weld Technician.
• General Education Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Certificate.
• Minimum Secret Clearance

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team under project deadlines. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include

• Providing sheet metal and metal fabrication and metalwork (Welding) support to model or component development or other activities as needed to support R&D or testing activities.
• Provide fabrication support researching, planning, designing, advising, preparing, operating, inspecting, measuring, recording, testing, diagnosing, and documenting welding activities
• Researching, planning, designing, advising, preparing, operating, inspecting, measuring, recording, testing, diagnosing, and documenting welding activities, sheet metal activities, and specialized tooling activities.
